Learn how the DI and PMIEF partnership is opening doors for young people - June 2018
Each year thousands of students from across the globe participate in Destination Imagination (DI) competitions. The Destination Imagination program is a fun, hands-on system of learning that fosters students’ creativity, courage and curiosity through open-ended academic challenges in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), fine arts and service learning.

The Destination Imagination season is just around the corner in Andover. DI, as it’s known, is a creative, problem-solving organization and series of competitions that attracts hundreds of Andover students annually.
DI: Andover kids are winners in every category - April 6, 2017
On Saturday, March 18, 235 Andover students participated in the Region 5 Destination ImagiNation Tournament at Greater Lawrence Technical School. The students make up 43 teams and of those, 22 placed in the top three of their age group.
Destination ImagiNation back for 2016-2017 school year - September 15, 2016
School’s back in session, and so is Andover’s Destination ImagiNation. Last year, Andover had 47 teams participate in Destination ImagiNation, making it the town with the largest number of teams from any single town in the world. More than 260 students participated and more than 150 adults volunteered.
Four Andover teams progress to global competition - June 30, 2016
What do a hovercraft, an octopus, Queen Elizabeth and a cat burglar have in common? For four teams of Andover students, these topics helped them earn their way to the Destination Imagination Global Finals in Knoxville, Tenn. In late March, 13 Andover teams competed in the State Tournament.

Destination Imagination Teams Win Big - March 31, 2016
More than 270 Andover students competed Saturday, March 19 in the regional Destination Imagination competition and close to half of them took home top honors. Andover students made up 46 of the 95 teams from the region, and 17 Andover teams placed in the top three of their events.
Andover represents at DI Global finals; Alumni team wins only state medal - July 9, 2015
Albert Einstein once said that logic can get you from “A” to “B,” but “imagination can take you everywhere.” For four teams representing Andover, imagination led them to Knoxville, Tenn., in May to take on thousands of the world’s most creative minds in the Destination Imagination Global Finals.
DI DOMINANCE; Three Andover teams bound for Destination Imagination Global Competition - April 13, 2015
Three of the eight Andover teams that competed in Destination Imagination’s State Tournament at Worcester Polytechnic Institute on March 28 are bound for Knoxville, Tenn., next month after qualifying for the Global Tournament. While Andover was not the birthplace of DI, as it’s called, participants from town have excelled within the program.

A team of West Elementary School fifth-graders spent Good Friday doing something great. As part of Destination Imagination, a global program that encourages kids to incorporate science, technology, engineering and math into a variety of arts and service-learning tasks, Team Helping Everyone Receive Opportunities for Sports, or HEROS, chose to share their love of sports with others less fortunate.

Andover made its presence known in a big way this month as the Massachusetts Region 5 Destination Imagination Tournament was held in town for the first time. The town fielded 36 teams – more than one-third of the total entries in the competition showcasing students’ creative problem-solving skills that was held March 14 at Greater Lawrence Technical School.
Destination Imagination teams set bar high at Globals - August 7, 2014
Andover’s Destination Imagination teams will have a lot to aspire to this coming school year after three squads from last year advanced to the Global Finals. The local teams all earned spots to represent Andover at the world championships that featured more than 1,400 teams from around the U.S., Canada and 25 other nations.

Eight teams from Andover competed at the Destination Imagination State Tournament on Saturday at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Competing alongside 140 other teams from around Massachusetts, Andover’s creative problem-solvers worked hard to succeed at every level.

Andover teams shined on Sunday as the Massachusetts Region 5 Destination Imagination Tournament returned to town after a five-year hiatus. Andover High School hosted the tournament that brought 92 teams of young people from 15 Essex County communities to town to compete.
DI team breezes on to Globals - April 16, 2013
An Andover High School Destination Imagination team is headed to the 2013 Global Finals after finishing in the top two at the state competitions recently. The “Wind Visible” team made up of seniors Rebecca Doolan and Rachel Christ and sophomores Joseph Vetere, Dean Smith and Andrew Matteucci got the nod by building a working windmill based on a Danish design that is powered by a wind turbine, which they constructed as well.

Destination Imagination students this school year have taken the problem-solving competition to a whole new level – and to new competitors. Before the school year started 17 students, from West Elementary, West Middle, Wood Hill Middle, Doherty Middle and Andover High School, created a Destination Imagination-style challenge for West Middle School teachers.

Robert Hsu’s imagination is not just top notch, it’s great enough to have earned him a first-in-the-state honor. Hsu, an Andover High senior, is in Tennessee today being honored as the 2012 Destination Imagination Global Finals “ValeDIctorian.” Destination Imagination is a problem-solving team contest for students from around the world.
Two DI teams to go to Global Finals - April 20, 2012
Two town Destination Imagination teams did well enough at a state competition to have a new destination: the Global Finals to be held in Tennessee May 22-27. All five Andover DI teams performed well enough at the Massachusetts Destination Imagination State Tournament to stand up and be recognized, but the two teams will join 1,200 teams from 50 states and 20 countries around the world to compete at the Global Finals.
Five DI teams head to state finals - March 29, 2012
Five Andover Destination Imagination teams are headed to the state tournament this Saturday at Worcester Polytechnical Institute. Destination Imagination is a competition that challenges teams of students to solve problems creatively. Fifteen Andover teams of students – about 100 children in grades kindergarten through grade 12 – participated in the Destination Imagination regional tournament March 17 at Triton Regional High School in hopes of qualifying for the state tournament.
